SKYSCRAPER LIVE

DISCOVERY / DESIGN, UX, DEVELOPMENT

While at Discovery, our team was tasked with creating a multilingual, international, "second screen" hub for Nik Wallenda's insane tightrope walk in Chicago. During the event, viewers were able to visit the site and explore his tightrope path using 360° panoramic photography, get additional live walk stats, and more.

I was responsible for defining the visual direction and designing the user interface – making sure to carry that through the project's (seemingly endless) phases and languages – as well as helping to build the experience with the rest of our small, nimble team.

The site was initially launched with teaser content with several sections on the site set to unlock at the time of the event. The site was built as static pages (with a dash of dynamic elements) in order to anticipate the huge number of visitors we expected – especially considering the on-air broadcast and all of Discovery's social media outlets were planning to direct followers to this site.
